Daar ontstaat een krachtig nationalisme en minderheden, waaronder Koerden, worden onderdrukt. Zelfs het woord ‘Koerden’ ligt gevoelig en verder een Koerdische taal wordt veelal niet geaccepteerd. Via al die beperkingen welke Turkije een Koerden oplegt, kan zijn deze plaats buitengewoon achtergesteld.
